【Abstract】 Depression is a common psychiatric disorder clinically, characterized by a high prevalence of cognitive impairment, which significantly affects patients' daily lives and social functioning. The mechanism of interaction between ghrelin and depression has been extensively studied, but there is still a lack of comprehensive review, summary, and systematic organization on this topic. This study aims to systematically evaluate the effects and mechanisms of Ghrelin in improving cognitive impairment in patients with depression, providing reference for clinical interventions targeting cognitive function in these patients. On October 20, 2024, literature related to the role and mechanisms of Ghrelin in improving cognitive impairment in depression was collected from the CNKI, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. The search period was from the inception of the database to October 20, 2024. Two authors independently screened the literature and extracted the basic information from the included studies. A total of 9 articles were included. The studies found that Ghrelin can improve cognitive impairment caused by depression through various mechanisms, including reducing inflammatory responses, regulating oxidative stress, and activating the CREB-BDNF signaling pathway. Ghrelin plays a significant role in improving cognitive impairment in depression, involving multiple biological pathways, which require further investigation.
